Description: This sale is for a stunningantique 1800’s hand-painted oval brooch. I have acquired four of these lovelybrooches, which were made and painted in either Russia or Eastern Europe duringthe early- to mid-1800’s, according to the former owner. The porcelain oval isencased in a yellow-gold finding. I believe it is brass, not karat gold. Thefinding is quite beautiful, with chasing and repoussé flowers and leaves atopbeading, which encircles the entire circumference of the painting. The portraititself is lovely; a beautiful and quite regal young woman with brunette hair,blue eyes, and an enigmatic smile. Her hair is swept up in Regency-likefashion, with a pink ribbon around the top. She wears a burgundy dress (perhapsvelvet) with a pink rose at her décolletage. The artist used a beautifultechnique to showcase the lace collar: Moriage-like fine stipples of whitepaint. The reverse side of this fantastic brooch is white porcelain with anantique ‘c’ closure. This pin is in remarkable condition for its age (roughly1820-1850), and would be a beautiful gift or addition to your collection!
