Antique Religious Poem, Two Worlds, Newman, Illuminated Calligraphy:
Description: I had purchased this at sale in NJ from a Manhattan estate. The piece is a poem from John Henry Newman, Newman was an author and a Catholic cardinal and theologian who was an important figure in the religious history of England in the 19th century. This is a hand written piece done in calligraphy with highlights of illuminated areas down with a gold flourish. The text is from Newman's poem called “Two Worlds,” which I fully typed in below from a book I saw on line. The frame is gold, the matting off white. The calligraphy seems to be on parchment or sheepskin. The frame measures 12” x 15”. Condition: Frame is in nice condition. The calligraphy ink has faded to brown. In some places the fading is quite pronounced. Please review the photos. I apologize ahead of time for the cost of shipping. I only ship USPS Priority insured.
