The icon was handpainted with egg tempera on a board covered with silver

Kirik and Julitta (Greek. Κηρύκος, Ἰουλίττα; mind. Approx. 305 years) - Early Christian holy martyrs who suffered in the persecution of the emperor Diocletian. Memory in the Orthodox Church takes place 15 (28) of July, in the Catholic Church on 15 July.

According to the Life, Julitta (snail) was a young widow of noble descent, lived in Iconium, along with his son Chirico. In the persecution of Diocletian, fearing torture, she left all of his property and a three year Chirico, accompanied by two slaves left Iconium, and lived as a poor pilgrim first at Seleucia, and then to Tarsus. During the persecution of Christians in Tarsus Julitta have known and shown with his son at the court of Alexander the mayor. Before the governor Julitta confessed herself a Christian. She was separated from her son, and subjected to whipping. Kirik, seeing the suffering mother cried, and then, saying that he was a Christian, demanded to be allowed to see his mother. In anger, Alexander threw the child from the stone platform and Kirik died. Julitta subjected to new tortures (planed body iron teeth, wound poured boiling tar), but she refused to offer sacrifice to the pagan gods. Alexander was sentenced to beheading holy, which was done. Body Kirik and Julitta executioners were left unburied outside the city, but a slave Julitta night secretly buried them.
