Rare Antique Salem Witch Sterling Thimble
Webster Co. * Circa 1890s
This hard to find antique sterling thimble was made by Webster Co. for Daniel Low of Salem, Mass. and their logo along with "Sterling" and the size (8) is stamped inside the top.Gay Ann Rogers shows this thimble on p. 169 of her book American Silver Thimbles.
The cartouche has not been personalized. The condition is excellent, crisp and in round with no holes, repairs or other damage. The bottom of the band has some rubbed spots but it doesn't look like wear from use, maybe something that happened during manufacturing?
