Antique Salt Glaze Stoneware Pitcher With Blue Bird Decoration & Pewter Lid:
This old one quart pitcher is in the condition shown, please look at the photos closely. The pewter lid has been repaired. The lid is monogramed with a name and date that appears to read 1873. The stick on protector pads on the bottom were there when found and I have left them. There is no mark or initial that I can see. The pitcher is 8 inches tall. Thanks for looking!

A friend has given me an old magazine article naming this pattern Chicken Pecking Corn. The article goes on to mention that this style of cobalt decoration was at its peak in the United States about the time of the date on the lid, 1860 - 1880. Again I mention the photographs of the chips on the spout and foot of the pitcher. The pottey and pewter are sound in all other respects.
