Ibelieve \"elbow grease\" and paste wax produces a better result than a can of paint or varnish. I love polishing brass, and only recoat parts that were coated originally. Movements are original to all of my clocks, they are cleaned, and parts changed as needed.

It has a couple of bumps and bruises, but still polishes to a nice shine and displays well. Theoriginal 1\" hardwood disc feetkeep the clock level. Measures 17\" wide, 11\" high and 5.5\" deep. There is 1/4\" sliver of veneer missing on the right rear edge that looks like very old damage (last pic), it is not noticeable. The main, beehive style,case sits on a 2\" thick base and is bolstered by solid scrolled buttresses, giving it a strong, masculine appearance. The rear access door is unique (picture 5), it is secured by spring steel tabs that \"snap\" the door into place.

The original brassbezel whichis polished and tight. The clear convex glass crystalis shiny and perfect, it fits tightly in the bezel, which opens and closes easily. The 5\" dial needed replacement, the newpaper dial was glued to the original pan, itlooksgreat.

The Movement is the original Sessions \"signed\" movement with a half hour bell. It strikes the hour half hour on thebell and announces the appropriate hour on a deep, resonating cathedral gong.The movement is tight, it was ultrasonically cleaned and oiled and should give you years of service.

All screws fit tight. Comes with the original pendulum bob andan appropriate key.

This would make a great gift, just hang the pendulum bob and wind it every week, it loves to run!!
