Beautiful 19th C. Sevres hand painted trinket or Jewelry box. Signed \"Boucher\" on the top. The scenes are depicting courting couples. The metal is bronze color and the hinge & claps works well. The box is 8\" long x 6\" wide and approx 4\" high. There\'s a sticker stating it was made in France for Charles Mayer & Co. and the base is signed with the artist initials.

Charles Mayer (pronounced “my-er”) immigrated to Indiana from Germany at the age of 19. The store began in 1840 at 29/31 West Washington Street. It eventually grew into a five-store building with toys, gifts, a wide variety of antiques, crystal, jewelry, linen, silver, and home furnishings. The legendary retailer operated there until 1954 when its inventory was sold toL.S.Ayres. The building was razed in1959.
