We are pleased to offer amagnificent silverplatedpen and ink stand, made by Silber & Fleming, Ltd.which began operations in 1854in London, England. The company was a manufacturer and wholesaler of decorative household items including china, glassware and silverplated items.

This impressive piece has as its centerpiece a beautifully full figured Sphinx, flanked by 2 beveled ink bottles with silverplated tops. It sits on 4impressive and ornate shell shaped feet and is beautifully reticulated around the base.

Based on the design, we estimate that it was made in the 1880s to 1890s. The company was in business until 1898. The mark on the bottom is a crown, fleur de lis and the letters P G S with the number 10438 and a symbol of 4 triangles in a club shape.

The measurementsare8 3/4\" long,5 7/8\" wide and sits7/8\" off the table. The ink bottles are 3\" tall to the top of the finials. There is nosilver wear or loss and the overall condition is outstanding with only a few minor usage and storage marks.There is a minor chip on the sidebottom of one of the bottles (see photo). Its condition attests to the fact that it was very well cared for and probably seldom used. Itis afabulous additionto any collection and will be treasured for years to come.
