Antique Solid Silver Sheffield Steel Multi Blade Multi Tool Pen Knife 1913 For Sale
Antique Solid Silver Sheffield Steel Multi Blade Multi Tool Pen Knife 1913
This is for an antique Victorian Solid Silver Sheffield steel multi blade multi tool pen knife, by Joseph Rodgers & Sons, hallmarked Sheffield 1913. With three single edged Sheffield steel blades, a long pointed pipe cleaner / darning needle, a button hook, a nail file, and scissors, marked 'RODGERS' ' NO 6 NORFOLK STREET' 'ENGLAND'. The tools fold neatly into the handle, which has solid silver grips, clearly hallmarked with the lion passant sterling silver mark, the crown town mark for Sheffield, the date letter 'v' for 1913, and the makers mark 'J.R' for Joseph Rodgers & Sons. Made just prior to the beginning of WW1, this multi-tool penknife was likely owned by a military officer. It measures 7.8 cm in length when closed, and 13.5 cm in length when open. It weighs 50 grams. In good original condition, bar the three blades which have unfortunately snapped, the other implements are in excellent condition, no other damage or repair, the silver has the patina of age.
