Description

A very unusual Victorian solid silver locking inkwell, London 1893

The solid silver inkwell is contained within a lock down silver box.

The inkwell lid and inkwell cap are both held firmly closed with catches.

The interior of larger box is lined with materiel, other interior surfaces are gilt.

With matching hallmarks throughout for Alfred Fuller, London 1893.

An unusual piece, weighing a combined 502g , a good quality inkwell.

Condition

In good antique condition with expected wear.

Hallmarks are rubbed to various extents.

Maker\'s mark to lid of inkwell is very deep (pic 7),

resulting in a rectangular mark to exterior of lid (pic 12).

Some wear to interior material.

Screw and catches are all fully functional.
