Antique Stoneware: 19thc. Ny 3gal. Crock Or Storage Jar W/ Cobal Floral, Ca.1875 For Sale
A beautiful 19thC. Crock or Storage Jar with an impressed stamp that reads: NEW YORK STONEWARE CO., FORT EDWARD, N.Y. This manufactory was in operation 1859-1885 and was well-respected for producing high-quality wares. This impressive 3Gal. Features a large Stylized Floral Bouquet consisting of three veined leaves with tendrils and dotted accents, all perfectly executed in Cobalt Slip. This Jar is very well made with perfect proportion. The interior Albany slip is just about flawless! There is some age-appropriate wear on the inner rim, and a chip about the size of a fingernail on the back outer rim. That's it. This is an excellent example of 19thC. Fort Edward decorated stoneware and a piece worthy in any collection. See photos for details and further description. This one is exceptionally solid and sturdy, weighing in at almost 12lbs! Measures approximately 10"W x 13"H overall with an inner rim diameter of 5-3/4". Listed with absolutely !!!
