Antique Stoneware: Primitive 19thC Yellow Ware Washboard w/ Bennington Glaze, NR:
$160.35

An early, full-size Yellow Ware Washboard with Bennington or Rockingham Glaze, American, probably Ohio, ca.1880. Pine frame houses a molded Yellow Ware panel with a raised diamond basketweave pattern with Sponged and mottled glaze. Frame appears mostly original and features an upper soap ledge and rear hole for hanging. A wonderful utilitarian example of form and function; these pottery boards are quite rare. See Internet for more information.

Condition: Honest, age-appropriate wear and soiling throughout. Wooden frame has stains, losses, etc. and typical wear in all the right places. Yellow Ware wash panel has some shallow chips and expected highpoint wear, as shown. The glaze is shiny and the color is still vibrant. No cracks or repaired damage. Displays brilliantly; highly appropriate for any collection of 19thC. Americana. See photos for complete details and close-ups. Please consider them as part of the description. Measures approximately 25\"H x 13\"W x 2-3/4\"D overall. The molded Yellow Ware tile is 11\"H x 10-1/2\"W. This board is quite heavy at 8 lbs!
