An early Redware or Earthenware Pitcher with fantastic Marbled, Multi-Color Slip Glaze, France, 19thC. Bulbous midsection, pinched pouring spout and applied strap \"basket\" handle. Olive Green glaze with Orange Halos; decorated with creamy yellow slip, copper (green) oxide and dark manganese. Retains original lid with raised button finial. The base is unglazed; interior with yellow slip. This is a very rare form; see for further information on French Jaspe pottery, realized prices, etc.Condition: General utilitarian wear, including nicks, chips and glaze loss to the lid, rim, handle, body and base, as shown; otherwise very good with exceptional coloration.
