Fabulous Antique Victorian Edwardian Era Ladies Wrap/Shawl/Sash ?? Ok, here is one of those pieces that weare not exactly sure as to how this piece is to be worn, around the neck/shoulders perhaps??? or what to call it, so we will describe it as best we can.Those frog closures do match up when worn around the neckand draped downthe front and back as shown in the 8th photo. It is Jet jet black in color as the camera flash washed out the coloring in some of the photos, there is no fading at all !!!Not sure as to the fabric content either, thick and heavy with the most gorgeous embroidery of grapes and leaves on the front.Around the neck area it has about a 16\" length ofblack velvet.It has 2 frog and button closures along with 2 hooks. There is a thick piece of cotton backing, thenathinner fabric on the back, perhaps a satin or silk, sadly it needs some work, needs to be replaced or stitched back along the sides mostly, a couple of tears across the width.Has a wonderful silkylike fringe on the ends with no damage.Would guess it is a small size, please see photos for length (about 82\")and width (about 8\").It is inWonderful condition considering its age!!We didn\'t notice any stains/damageto the embroidery work side, it is just fabulous, the only issue being the back fabric.A lovely piece for Study,Repurpose, Collections! It does have a slight mustiness to it.
