Vegetable Ivory Acorn Thimble Case

antique vegetable ivory thimble case is nicely carved in
form of an acorn.
Inside is a sterling silver thimble with a faceted rim and an engraved
thimble tests sterling silver but is not marked.
didn't mark small items (and have to pay duty on them) until required
to by law in the early 1880s.
size 8 (15.25 mm diameter opening).

palm tree. It has the hardness and texture of ivory and a warm honey
