Beautiful Bohemian Garnet necklace converted from an old brooch circa 1900. Garnets are in good shape and the pendant measures 1 1/8\" x 1\". Pendant is made of a mixed metal usually brass over silver. Garnets are nice because although they are dark they show the bright red coming through especially when hitting the light. The silver is showing in the back of the pendant, probably an 800 or 900 silver. The back has some scars from where the pin was removed. The gold filled chain is 17 1/4 inches in length. I put a small sterling cz 1 inch up the chain to denote a star . This is very striking when worn.Victorian jewelry was very symbolic. The crescent symbolized female spirituality and also the beginning of a new phase of life.
