Antique Victorian Bracelet Sterling Silver Repousse Bangle Child's British 1830s:
STERLING SILVER VICTORIAN BRACELET
A rare antique bangle bracelet. From British Royalty.Inherited from Duke Cox from England. They came to Boston in the late 1830's. His young bride was Alice Spencer from London, related to Princess Diana.
This bracelet belonged to Alice Spencer when she was a child. I inherited it from my mother. It's priceless, rare.
The bangle itself is real silver, but hollow, due to the hand done repousse work, a Victorian era floral pattern. Size is small, for a child or young girl or small boned person. Outside diameter is 6 3/4 inches. Inside diameter 6 inches. So your wrist has to be smaller than 6" to wear it.
Very collectible. I don't know much about Duke Cox other than he lived in a castle in England but came to California to start a better life, he apparently died young. This is one of the view pieces that got passed on. Made in the late 1830's. The rumor in my family was that other relatives had come over on the Mayflower, but tracing the family tree is a task I've not completed.
I only know that this piece was most likely made in London, belonged to the Spencer Family, and is mine by inheritance. Obviously I can't replace it, it's beautiful, elegant, timeless, a classic.
