Antique Victorian Mourning Buckle French Jet Onyx Glass Stretch Bracelet For Sale
Antique Victorian Mourning Buckle French Jet Onyx Glass Stretch Bracelet
This sale is for a striking and very unique, mourning glass buckle bracelet, that is from the Victorian era. This piece is base metal with a gilt finish. The bracelet has an inside circumference of 6" but it is a stretch bracelet and can expand to fit at least a size 7". The bracelet is a bit fuller than 1.5" wide at its widest point and is 7/8" wide at its narrowest point. This piece is unique for its detailed buckle design that is done in black glass. The black glass panels wrap around the whole bracelet, with crisp faceted edges with a smooth and gleaming surface. The front of the bracelet has a detailed and realistic buckle design, it's amazing that it has survived in such great condition, the buckle almost looks like a ribbon how it curves and juts out from the central panel. There are a few tiny nibbles and very very tiny chips to the edges of the panels but it is very modest and noticeable only upon very close inspection. The glass is very fresh looking with smooth surfaces that gleam and crisp edges that don't have any dulling. The bracelet expands and contracts as it should, there is one section where the fuzzy black part of the elastic is gone, but the elastic around the whole piece feels very sturdy and secure. The elastic is knotted in the back and it looks to be original - I'm not sure. The gold ropy setting gives the bracelet a nice contrast and texture to the glass, there is a little bit of darkening and dulling to the color, but the piece still has a nice patina. Overall this is a striking and very unique, mourning glass buckle bracelet, that is from the Victorian era and is in Excellent condition. There are many more beautiful pieces up for sale this month so please view my other items for the full selection.Shipping All jewelry is carefully wrapped and shipped in boxes to ensure that your vintage piece arrives safely.
