Antique Victorian Scottish Pebble Dirk Kilt Pin, From Lady Lyell, Dated 1872
This is an original, rare Antique kilt pin from Scotland. It is very well made with beautiful workmanship. What makes this pin so special is that it is inscribed "E.L. Anthony from Lady Lyell and Dated 1872. The pin has a large pebble, Bloodstone, with what I think is a very fine cairngorm, set in silver. The kilt pin tests as sterling silver. The Victorian pin is a very large size and it has it's original tube hinge and c-clasp. This is fine kilt pin with a really good sized pebble stone.
Mary Elizabeth (Horner) Lady Lyell 1808-1873, wife of Sir Charles Lyell, 1st Bt. - foremost geologist of his day. Sir Charles was a close and influential friend of Charles Darwin. There is a photograph of Lady Lyell in the National Portrait Gallery. It is very fitting that a geologists wife gave Mr. Anthony a Scottish pebble pin as a gift.
I offer this fine rare Scottish kilt pin with the opening offer the reserve.
