Main Description

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt presentation pen has been realistically modelled in the form of a quill.

The surface of this exceptional pen retaints the original gilding.

The body/shaft of the pen is embellished with the contemporary engraved presentation inscription from The governers of Christs Hospital to Fredk Robert Case - 29 Nov 1836.

The broad terminal of this piece is ornamented with details reproducing the naturalistic features of the feather.

This antique pen is fitted to the original hinged leatherette presentation box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with a push fit catch.

The interior of the box bears the retailer\'s mark \'Pickford & Co, Watch Manufacturers, 177 & 178 Upper ST Islington, London. N\'.

This impressive presentation piece was crafted by the London silversmith Mahala Jago in 1836; due to the hallmarking system the quill features the date letter \'B\' for 1837.

Condition

This antique presentation pen is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The original leatherette box is in exceptional presentation condition.

The cast ornamentation is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of the shaft are clear in keeping with age and location.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this item.
