This is a beautiful big antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish Iona marble and gemstone Luckenbooth brooch.
The Luckenbooth is an ancient Scottish lovers token where two hearts are merged into one and often have a crown on top to symbolise the crowning of the merger.
The stones are stunning green and white marbles from the Isle of Iona and faecetted glass gemstones made to simulate genuine stones from the Scottish mountains.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces of this period and has been fully tested by a local jeweller to confirm it is sterling silver. The brooch length is large at 5.0 cm ( Two inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
