Vintage Japanese Geisha Katsura Wig & Kanzashi Hairpin Hair Ornaments
This vintage Japanese geisha katsura wig and kanzashi hairpin hair ornaments date from the 1950s. It is made of a sculpted painted black rope fabric created into a stiffened rolled hair style. This gorgeous geisha traditional hairstyle wig would have been made for the tourist market and has kanzashi style hairpin hair ornaments with fluttering dangling beaded sequin baubles made of a variety of of materials cardboard, plastic, silver, metal, pearls and enamel work. The wig measures 24 inches inside circumference and 34 inches outside. It is in good wearable condition and is a bit dusty from display. There are a few broken pieces of cardboard and metal ornamental trim. This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of wearable Japanese art, great for display or costume!
