Great Brass Jewelry Box / Trinket Box with Hand Painted Miniature Portrait under glass.

This brass box has a wonderful hand painted miniature portrait in the lid center surrounded by sapphire & ivory colored enamel within an engraved scrolling floral motif. I'll let the photos tell most of the story.

I cannot detect a signature on the painting.

The box is stamped on the bottom "Made Italy".

It has seen better days. You can see some to the welding repairs on the bottom from the outside. Mostly from the inside which would have been shielded with a felt liner that is no longer present. The inside lid still has the tan felt present.

Box measures 6" x 4 3/4", Portrait measure 2 7/8" x 2 1/16"
