Antique Winchester Bushel Grain Scale & Bucket Old Brass Farm Tool Crop Harvest For Sale
Here is an awesome antique WINCHESTER BUSHEL grain scale up for a sale.
This scale was purchased at an antique & collectibles farming estate sale here in central Nebraska. It looks to be in very good condition in my opinion and it still works like it should. Once I got the scale set on zero it did balance out level. I'm not saying they are in perfect condition, there are some small pits and dings in the brass from being used over the years. I doubt there are many of these left around and probably not in any better condition.
The scale measure 13 1/2 long and the bucket is 5 3/4 inches in diameter and 5 3/4 inches tall. The scale and bucket are both made of solid brass. The small hanger on the bucket, the small horseshoe hanger on the scale & the inch long middle hinge that holds the big ring look to be made of steel. I suppose they needed something sturdier for these pieces than brass. They both have nice patena on them but I think they would polish up really nice if that's what you would like to do. This scale is a great rare survivor and in really good condition for it's age. This could be a fantastic addition for a collector.

I had a question from an member about a makers name on the scale and I found one "HOWE". It is between the 2 swivels on the bar and I also found the #376 to the left of that. I almost missed that number, was hard to see. The #376 pictured is on the bottom of the slide weight. I could not see a number on the bucket other than the 205 that was on the handle. Very good possibility there is another number on the bucket itself it may just be covered, like the number I almost missed by the name. I didn't try cleaning this up at all, just wiped the dust of and took the pics. It is in the same condition as I found it in. I figured if the winning buyer wants it polished than I will leave that up to them to do it exactly how they would like it done givin the rarity of the scale. Hope this helps. Thanks for your offers and have good day.
