Antique Zinc Ram Lightning Rod Weathervane Complete Original Stand Amethyst Ball For Sale
Antique hollow bodied zinc ram lightning rod weathervane with cast iron arrow. Complete and original with twisted rod, scroll stand, amethyst swirl ball, and acorn style tip. The ram itself has an oxidized surface with remains of old mustard paint. There are a few dents and some separation along the top seams. No repairs and the arrow is straight. The acorn finial is threaded; there are some bends to the tips. The twisted rod is stamped around the top collar with the letters C,B,F, and R. The glass ball collars have some typical roughness, no chips; zinc end caps thread on and read "Cole Bros Pat.Dec.12-1893". Comes from a private collection as originally removed from a barn in Illinois about ten years ago.
The ram measures just over 14" long by 10 5/8" tall. The arrow is 31 3/4" long with inner mounting holes one inch in diameter. 5" ball with inner holes just over 1 1/8". Overall height is 68 1/4".
