Here is an unusual, strangely formed Antique Circa 1885 Art Nouveau / Aesthetic Movement Sea Serpent Mermaid Tail Pairpoint Creamer with Covered Sugar Bowl & Tray Set # 2028. This set isa part of theDecorative ArtsCollection (not presently on view)at the Brooklyn Museum in New York! Thelovely scroll-footed trayhas a decorative reticulated band, and while it has a Late Victorian Eastlake flair to it, the sea serpent tail handles on the sugar and creamer are very Art Nouveau, and the unusually formed edges give this onetrue Arts & Crafts era appeal; which is the exacteraduring which it was made in 1885. This set definitely boasts an unusual blend of styles from severallate 1800\'s period genres. So, while we\'re listing this setin theArt Nouveau category, it is certainly a compilation of several strong period design components. The reticulated tray measures 7 3/4\" long x 4 1/4\" wide x 7 3/8\" high. The lovely, sensuous creamer measures 3 3/4\" wide from spout tip to handle back x 2 1/2\" high. And the lidded sugar bowl with the figural sea serpent tail handlemeasures 5\" wide from handle back to handle back x about 2 3/4\" high.Theset weighs 1 pound 11.8 ounces and is being sold in as is as found condition for one money with no partial refunds or returns. It\'s an altogether interesting find that has the rough, unfinished look of being hand formed, but is most likely machine cast; as there are very few pieces that aren\'t machine made.
