Antique (c1900) swing mirror, gilt wood and gesso. Fluted columns, with carved finials at the top, support the mirror, which can be tilted at any angle. The mirror has elaborate barbola detail, including roses, flowers and scrolls. The base or stand has a drawer in front; it is also embellished with barbola ornaments, including rose swags on the sides. The base is apx 14" X 6 1/4" and 3" high; apx 21" high overall. Please note the following condition issues: 1) a bit of gesso, which also served as a handle, is missing from the front of the drawer; 2) there is a chip to the gesso onthe back/left corner of the stand; and 3) there is a spot of rubbing on the top of the stand where the mirror sets all the way back. Otherwise very good, sturdy condition. The mirror is original, and has age-appropriate hazing. A fabulous table-top or vanity mirror, withauthentic age-worn patina, fading, and dusty verdigris accents. Enlarge photos for detail.
