Antique Mid 1800's Steam Engine Possible Prototype Very Rare:
This is a very odd engine from around the 1850's. I think it is a prototype engine. The engine has a forward, reverse lever as well as a speed control lever. There is also a lever to work the whistle. The whistle was added years ago and the original is no longer there. The engine turns freely and it should not take much to get it running. I am not a mechanic and I do not work on these old engines. This engine has beautiful patina and it is the earliest American steam engine I have owned. The flywheel is 4.5" in diameter.Good luck on this rare item.
