Antique Pretty Faced Japanese Ichimatsu Gofun Doll In Kimono - Meiji Period?:
I don't know a thing about these antique Japanese Ichimatsu dolls. Some are worth a fortune and some less - see items 170718712704 priced at 4000 dollars and 151087612040 priced more modestly. Both of these Ichimatsu dolls look very like this one, but there is a world of difference in the price. Because I can't read the Japanese writing on this doll, I am just going to put a minimal price tag on it and hope that someone else out there knows far more about it all and maybe can even tell the maker. All I know is that she has a very pretty face and is clearly an early one, and looks as if she may be from the Meiji period. She has an unusual coloured Kimono (in fact, it is very similar indeed to that really valuable Ichimatsu doll I gave the details of at the top of the description) but it is quite grubby with age now. She has the old papers wrapped around her tummy with Japanese newspaper print on one, stamps on the other and a bit of hand writing too. Her body is old muslin type material with the gofun covered limbs. She has a separate swivel head and shoulderplate. She has lost her hair but I thought I would leave her in original condition as found. Her feet and hands are nicely shaped and her toes have original nail varnish. Her brown glass eyes and her delicately painted mouth are pretty.Whatever she is, I like her! International shipping welcome.
