Antique Red And White Appalachian Quilt - Handmade, Shabby But Still A Treasure For Sale
Classic antique red and white cotton quilt from the Appalachian foothills of southern Ohio, could be as early as 1900. The quilt is hand-stitched in a Crown of Thorns pattern and measures approximately 78" X 65". This is a quilt that has seen much use and might be considered a cutter. Although the red pattern is still bright, the red binding has frayed along the entire edge. One of the 16 design squares has a V-shaped tear and another has three distinct worn spots (see photos). The muslin backing is thin and the batting has shifted. There are also a few small spots were the red dye has transfered to white fabric.
