Arare antique Victorian, hand painted sculpture of awinged cherub / angel, playing a flute. This beautiful figure dates to circa 1850 I believe, and was made in Germany by Meissen. The colours of pink, green etc. are gorgeous, and his wings are highlighted in amber and yellow - all colours being muted and gentle. His hairand face arebeautifully painted, andareas of the whole figurine are gilded, including golden flowers covering the fabric whichpreserves his modesty and flows around his back. He is playing a flute, and standing upon a small plinth. The Meissen stamp is under the plinth base, together with impressed numbers: 301and 16. The misses that I can detect are: he is missing the ends of both little fingers, and the tip of one small area of right wing. He may also have hadhis leftwing repaired as it looks a different quality from the other. A gorgeous figure - Please see photographs.
