Beautiful and unusual 19th century silver plated salt shaker and pepper mill made by the renowned French maker Christofle. The pieces are richly decorated in typical Empire style with swags and geometric borders.Here\'s a similarChristofle pepper mill made for the Ritz.
ConditionVery good vintage condition, no wear to silvering, the grinding mechanism works and the salt top unscrews easily. The salt top and pepper mill body have bumps and dings; the salt is missing felt on base; the pepper mill has hairline cracks where the body joins the pedestal foot; the salt top is slightly skewed to the side.
