Antique/vintage Brass/copper/tin Metal Miner's Railroad Lunch Box Pail Lunchbox For SaleUp for sale is an antique Miner's or Railroad Lunchbox/Pail. It looks to be made of brass over copper, complete with tin plate (see photo 4 and 8), tin insert that sits on the inside lip of the pail, 3 tin compartments that sit inside the 3 openings and of course a matching lid. The initials "T"S" are engraved in the front (see photo 2). This vessel would have been filled with, most likely hot water, and the 3 containers would slip into their holes with the plate set on top to hold the heat in. Then of course, the lid to cover all. A hot lunch ready for this miner/worker! This piece measures just under 8 1/2" to the top of the dome on the lid, 7 1/2" across and almost 12" with the handle standing straight up as in the very 1st picture. The deeper or taller tin holder shows the most signs of water residue on its bottom (probably from the moist heat). The bottom is dovetailed as seen in photo 11. It is also in photo 11 where you can see signs of copper showing through the bottom as well as along the rim of the pail (photo 3). It has denting commensurate with age. This will arrive properly packaged for safe arrival. Please e-mail me with any questions you may have and thank you for looking!
