Antique/vintage Irish Crochet Lace Christening Gown For Repair/restoration For Sale
This is a beautiful but damaged Irish crochet lace christening gown. When I found this is was adorning an old and battereddoll, so I guess it has been through some fairly rough treatment. A pity, because it is very fine and unusual. The front crochet lace panel is laid over a pale primrose yellow satin and tied at the back with tattered yellow ribbons. Their are tiny crochet sleeves and a Valenciennes frill around the neck edge. There are many areas of damage. A 2 in tear to the back skirt; 2 black dots, which may be felt pen, tattered ties, a tear to the crocheted edge near the bottom of the skirt and a fair amount of small breaks and holes to the crochet front. It would be a worthwhile task to restore this, otherwise it could be altered to make a pretty short baby or doll dress. Low start price reflects condition. I have discovered another small tear and have added additional photos of the damaged areas.
