Antique eyeglasses, Civil War Era. Oval shaped amber glass lenses that are etched or frosted with the exception of the center area. Lenses are in good shape considering age, I did not detect scratches but I do see dirt, spotting or spots. I did not clean, estate find. Metal frames, shows oxidation and aging. The right arm hinge has resistance that I attribute to corrosion and lack of use. The left arm hinge area is worn. The end of the arm where it meets the hinge pin is split similar to a fork design that is folded or bent over the fixed hinge pin. 1 of the little ends at the end of the arm is severed allowing the arm to move freely with no resistance and also display horizontal slop or wear. I see quite a few of this style eyewear listed on this website with most if not all being associated with rifle shooting or sharpshooters glasses. I do not know who created them or what they were initially designed for. I am selling the pair as is with no return, thank you. Buyer will pay actual shipping charge.
