Stunning photograph of a Apache Maiden "Hi-Horse" by A. Frank Randall of Willcox, Arizona Territory c. 1880s. She wears a gorgeous Apache fringed buckskin poncho with trade cloth cutouts, a heavily tin-coned yoke, and a necklace with possibly a peace medal. She holds a basket in her right hand, with a burden basket and pitch olla to her left. Titled both in ink and in negative recto with Randall's Willcox, Arizona Territory studio imprint verso. Includes: Dealer in Views of Arizona and New Mexico, Geronimo and his Band, also Tonto, San Carlos, Yuma, Mojave, White mountains, Jicarillas, Mescalero and Apache Photos. Arizona Territory, Frank Randall traveled as a correspondent and photographer
for Leslie’s Magazine from 1883-1887. There is considerable confusion over the
authorship of photographs of Apaches by Randall, and those taken by another
well-known photographer of the time -Ben Wittick. It has not been determined whether
