$1500.00

This book is hand numbered (26 of 40) and signed by all 3 members of the band Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson , Neil Peart and artist Hugh Syme and was purchased from the RUSH Backstage Club. This is where I purchase all of my signed Rush Memorabilia. This set is the rarest of all Art of Rush collections since it is the artist proof and will only increase in value over time. Since 10 of the copies were given away to elite groups of musicians and actors that only left 30 copies available to the general public and only members of the RUSH backstage club got them. I will include the Rush Backstage club Order # receipt with purchase however I have to cross out my personal payment information. Please contact me with any questions. This is your chance to own a true piece of rock history!!!

Art of Rush - Artist\'s Proof: Hand Signed by Rush Band Members and HughSyme

In light of the overwhelming response the Rush store had forthe Limited Editions of the Art of Rush, they decided to release the Artist’sProof Edition. This rare edition waslimited to 40 copies. Of note are the 10copies that were given to an elite group of musicians and actors, none of whosenames were published for privacy reasons. That left less than 30 of these for the public.

The book comes enclosed in a custom,hand-made slipcase.

The Art of Rush is a 272 page coffee table book that delvesinto the 40 year relationship with Rush and their longtime artist andillustrator Hugh Syme. The stunning book begins with a foreword penned by NeilPeart, and contains original illustrations, paintings, photography, and theincredible stories behind each album that he has designed with the band since1975.

The book\'s narration was written by music journalist StephenHumphries and includes in-depth interviews with each Rush band member, GeddyLee, Alex Lifeson, Neil Peart and artist Hugh Syme. The Art of Rush alsocontains entertaining anecdotes and commentary from a wide array of notablemusicians, actors, athletes, writers, radio personalities and Rush insidersabout their favorite Rush album covers, which clearly reveals how vital andimpactful the visual representation of their music has been through the years.

One of the hallmark\'s of Rush releases is the considerablecare and consideration that goes into each one – including the conceptualartwork. Readers of the Art of Rush may be surprised to discover just how mucheffort went into each concept and the execution for every album cover. In thedays before Photoshop, each element of the artwork had to be handcrafted andpieced together. Take the gatefold for Hold Your Fire, for example, Hugh firstconstructed a miniature set of a city street and then super-imposed a pictureof a fireball juggler on it. It\'s akin to what the Hollywood special effectsstudio used to do. Nowadays, of course, Hugh utilizes digital technology tocreate Rush\'s art. But as Neil Peart adds, \"the tools got easier, but thethinking doesn\'t.\"

Some of the regaled stories include furtively crossing theborder for a guerilla-style shoot for A Farewell to Kings, trying to herd awarren of rabbits for the cover of Presto, descending into the depths of anautopsy lab to find a brain for Hemispheres, building a pool inside Hugh\'sstudio for Test for Echo, and a stunt involving fire, whiskey and photographerDeborah Samuel for Moving Pictures. But no history of the band\'s art would becomplete without the story of the creation of arguably the band\'s most iconicimage, The Starman, and cover art for 2112.

\"From the first time Hugh and I met, we shared a levelof communication that would sustain us through all the years of discussing artby long distance. We had the same values and tastes in images and design, andsimply spoke the same language. That\'s why I off-handedly referred to him onetime as ‘serving a life sentence as my art director,\" said drummer andlyricist Neil Peart, who has worked with Hugh on the art for every project Rushhas released.
