This lovely set is in nice antique condition and features its original chest with a partial advertisement. This set is by the Continental Silver Co, but the pattern was also made by American Silver and Royal Silver. There are some very small pits on several pieces from age, but the set appears to be unused and is in surprisingly nice for being over 100 years old!More on condition: I don't think that this set was ever used. The forksare super sharp, as are the edges of the spoons(!) and knives. They have been shuffled around and stored in a box for a very long time though, and a few pieces have issues. In the last four pictures you'll see that 4 of the knives have pits/marks from where they touched the fabric in the case. 2 soup spoons are spotty, and one has a scratch. 1 teaspoon has a pit, one has a spot. 2 forks (that I had that weren't originally part of the set) have plating loss. The damage may or may not buff out, and the forks could be made into napkin rings or something.
The ad (found in the chest) reads:CONTINENTAL SILVER COMPANYTelephone Randolph 29056th FLOOR, MASONIC TEMPLE, CHICAGO, ILL.
For a short time, the Masonic Temple building was the tallest in Chicago and featured shops, offices, theatres, and meeting rooms. It was demolished in 1939, so this little flatware service is a nice bit of Chicago history.
Included is:6 dinner knives9 dinner forks10 table/place/soup spoons6 tea/coffee spoons1 ladle
