ATTRACTIVE, HARD-TO-FIND DISH LID

\"BLIND BOY\" ATT TO JOHN &WILLIAM RIDGWAY

This is an attractive, medium-blue dish lid with a highglaze. The central scene shows a rural landscape, in the forefront of which awoman sits with a boy and a dog. The woman is holding the boy\'s hand, and thedog sits at their feet. The border is of flowers. The quality of the engravingand color application is good.

NAME OF PATTERN: Thispattern is usually called \"Blind Boy\" in reference books.

SIZE AT WIDEST ANDDEEPEST POINTS: 8\" x 8\" x4\" (to top of pretty finial). Finial measures 1-1/4\" high.

CONDITION: Thelid is clean and looks hardly used. There do not appear to be use marks. Thereare, however, minor manufacturing flaws, including: (1) Tiny interruption instringing join at roughly 11 o\'clock; and (2) small smudge in blue circa 2:30o\'clock. Otherwise, the piece appears fine, inside and out. Please refer to thephotographs, as they form part of the description.

DATE: While - due to the lack of a mark - thereis no specific date attached to the lid, Godden states that the John &William Ridgway manufactory flourished 1814-circa 1830. Stylistically, thepiece appears to be later in that date range.

MARK: As istypical for lids of this type, there is no mark; however, the pattern isgenerally attributed to John & William Ridgway. I cannot, however, guarantee this maker (although I haven\'t seen another piece in this pattern, marked or unmarked, clearly made by any other manufactory).

NOTE: Please askany questions before offerding, as there will be no returns unless both Buyer andSeller agree that there is egregious error or misrepresentation in thisdescription and the accompanying photographs that form part of the description.

SHIPPING: Thisitem will be shipped only to confirmed addresses in the U.S., via USPS PriorityMail.

If you\'ve got the dish in this popularpattern, this attractive lid will make your day, not to mention greatly enhancethe value of your base. Also, would make a nice addition to a collection oflids.
