Austro-Hungarian Medal for the Wounded (Verwundetenmedaille)

1918The Medal for the Wounded (Verwundetenmedaille) was created in 1917 and was awarded for Austro-Hungarian soldiers wounded in combat during World War I.

The medal is made of dull gray zinc. The font side has the profile of Emperor Charles and “Carolus,” his name in Latin. The back side has the inscription “Laeso Militi” (“To the wounded soldier”) and the date 1918.This particular Medal for the Wounded comes with the original ribbon, which has two red stripes, indicating that the soldier received it for his second war wound.This medal is in excellent condition. It would be an excellent addition to any collection of European militaria or Austro-Hungarian memorabilia. It will be sent with USPS mail in a padded envelope.
