A gorgeous antique cased cameo vase.

Cylindrical clear glass mottled with orange, yellow

and green powder inclusions. Cased (overlaid)

dark brown glass expertly acid cut back toreveal

images of ships at full sail at sunset.The placement

of the orange internal colorcreates a very convincing

3Dsunset effect. Even the shaded top part of the vase

is dark brown, overlaid glass. This creates a night sky

effect I have not seen on any other Daum marine vase.

The ships that surround the entire vase appear to

be further engraved or wheel-carved to add much

moredetail, adding to the beauty of this vase.

"Daum Nancy" signature mark in cameo to

the side of the vase dates this example

Ca. 1900 to 1914.
