Autograph Note Signed: Arthur Conan Doyle on black-bordered ("mourning") paper

undated, but embossed heading of UNDERSHAW, HINDHEAD, SURREYwould suggest1897-1907 which is when Doyle and his wife, Louise, lived there. She died in 1906 and the house (Undershaw)was sold the following year. Doyle wrote The Hound of the Baskervilles (1902)and The Return of Sherlock Holmes (1904)while living there. Upper left corner lists: TELEGRAMS - HINDHEAD STATION - HASLEMERE

The note says: My dear Bangs, (John Kendrick Bangs?)You are indeed a good fellow. All thanks to you. Yours warmly, Arthur Conan Doyle (full signature)
