TEA or COFFEE SERVICE
I am offering you a very rare and beautiful HAEL ceramic service with 21 pieces. This complete complete six-piece ceramic dishes from the German bauhaus-artist Margarete Heymann-Loebenstein.
This service is a symbiosis of modern streamline-form with the archaic decor of the spiral (in the modern interpretation of the cosmological spiral to the black hole), which the spirit of the age, the start of German modernism in the 1920´s to the present day reflects in a exellently way . It is a museum contempary document of everyday-art.
Complete for 6 persons:
1 coffeepot, 6 plates, 6 cups, 6 saucer, 1 creamer, 1 sugar-bowl
Creamcoloured earthenware matt glaze with coloured helical-decor.
Condition: Apart from 2 mini-chips ( one marginally of one plate; one the spout) all in exellently, unneeded condition, see details on my pictures.
Produced by Hael Werkstatten for artistic ceramics, Marwitz, 20s. All pieces are marked with firm´s mark and 446; Lf.
Provenance: This dishes was in posession of Mrs. Walli Kamnitz, librarian of the bauhaus/ Dessau. She was also in posession of a table, which Mies van der Rohe donated her to her wedding, which was sold by sale (Phillips de Pury) before 2 years for about 48.000 $.

The cultural diversity in Germany before 1933 can be in the field of applied art exemplarily illustrated by the works and biographies of three ceramic artists:
Marguerite Friedlaender-Wildenhain, Margarete Heymann-Loebenstein and Eva Stricker-Zeisel. All 3 have created groundbreaking designs and decors for service of daily use. Since they were Jewish them was after 1933/38 to continue their careers in Germany denied. They went into exile in the United Kingdom or the United States.
