Beautiful Alexander 1894 Industrial Drafting Table Not Dietzgen For Sale
HELLO buyers: THIS
IS A REAL TREAT FOR LOVERS OF INDUSTRIAL ERA FURNITURE. I HAVE A CAST
IRON & WOOD (OAK/PINE) DRAFTING TABLE THAT READS ON THE BASE: MF'D BY J.G. & J.N. ALEXANDER GRAND RAPIDS MICH. PAT'D MARCH. 6, 1894.I
had to restore all of the wood surfaces due to their condition. I
stripped, triple sanded, stained and sealed all
of the wood. I polished all of the table top hardware which includes
some beautiful brass parts. I simply washed with
mild soap and water all of the cast iron parts. I did not touch the
original paint on the iron base and arms. The wood is beautiful and looks great against the cast iron! All of the original hardware is there except for two washers which had to be replaced.It has the big faucet style handles and the top measures 48" x 37" and weight several thousand pounds!One of the knobs on the faucet handle appears to have been damaged at some point and a repair was made. This is hardly noticeable but if look closely you can see it but it does not detract from the piece.The
table adjusts up & down in height as well as tilts. The tilt is
controlled by the foot pedal you see at the base in the center. You push
it in, adjust the tilt and lock it back in place. Very nice piece.I have set a very reasonable and attainable reserve on this item. Don't be afraid to offer, you can hit the number!I
did several hours of research and found the name J.G. Alexander in a
business directory in Grand Rapids but no examples of their goods
anywhere. I have worked with K&E and Dietzgen tables but I have
never seen this company or piece so I assume it is very rare.Local pick up but I will consider shipping. Contact me before offerding to discuss shipping options. If you win the sale and require shipping and did not contact me to discuss shipping arrangements, I will not ship to you.
