Description A beautiful early antique 18th CenturyGeorgian solid sterling silver cream jug by the silversmith David Mowden with full English silver hallmarks for London 1757. Lovely quality example, classic shape, decorated with embossed and engravedscrolls, with a decorative scrolled silver handle and resting on 3 splayed silverclaw feet. Beautiful fully gilt-lined interior andwith a nice ornate entwined monogram of a previous owner.
Measurements Measures approx3.85 inches (98mm) in height and is3.45 inches (87mm) wide including handle and spout.
Date Antique 18th Century Georgian Solid Sterling Silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks for London 1757(date letter "B"), includes the early "crowned leopards head" stamp of the London assay office.
Maker Makers initials partially rubbed butare "D.M" forthe London makerDavid Mowden.
Condition Goodcondition for age and ready to be used. No splits or cracks,no holes or leaks and no nasty knocks or dents either.Has an old seam repair and also old solders on the joins for the feet and handle. No cracks on the silverlegs and the jug sits nice and flat on a surface and is readyfor use. The silver handle isabsolutely secure and sturdy and theinterior gilding is lovely and virtually all still intact.
