This listing is for circa 1890 French bronze and ivory sculpture of a renaissance revival woman mounted on a sienna marble base. The piece as a whole measures 13 ½ inches or 34 cm high, and is 4 ¾ inches or 12 cm wide.

The bronze is quite beautiful and elegant; the woman is wearing the traditional garb of the Renaissance era. She is shown walking down marble steps and looking down at the book in her hand. What really adds to the beauty of this piece is her carved ivory face, neck, and hands which add to the complexity of the piece. The bottom of the base is marked “MADE IN FRANCE”. The bronze has a golden brown patina or color which is all original to the piece.

In accordance with rules I guarantee that the paper thin piece of Elephant Ivory used for this 19th century Miniature Painting is far less than 5% of the total. Because of all the different international law pertaining to the sale of antique Ivory, prefers and dictates that I not sell this original 19th century Ivory Painting outside of the United States.

The condition of the piece is as follow; there is age appropriate hair lines in the ivory, but this does not affect the stability or quality of piece. There are a few minor flea nicks to the marble base and variations to the patina. Please see the many photographs.
