1886 bible containing old and new Versions in parallel columns and 2000 images, along with the genealogy of the owners.

Very heavy and large edition. It measures 10.5\" x 12.5\" and is 5 inches thick. It weighs roughly 15 pounds.

This is a very nice bible and presents nicely.

Produced in 1886 by U.S. Publishing house of Chicago Illinois, this book was presented to the original recipient in 1890.

The book features many pages of genealogy for the family who owned it, including births, deaths, and marriages.

It also has 2000 images, many of which are full plates, some of them being colored.

The binding and covers are leather, embossed, a deep purple in color and accented by gold highlight.

There is slight separation on the top and bottom edges where the covers attach to the spine. The spine has the most wear on this item, but even that presents nicely and has a certain charm to it. Have no fear of the integrity of the condition; it is very sturdy and has been cared for.

The pages in this bible are a gorgeous off white to cream in color. Almost no tanning, foxing or spotting due to age, no major tears/rips/pages missing from what I could tell.

Aside from general wear and use, the only major damage to the pages i could find were among a set of family notes/genealogy pages in the book between the old and new testaments (just after Malachi): someone included a lock of hair with the documentation of their marriage which has resulted in the hair tanning the page (Please see pictures).

This will make a wonderful heirloom and family bible for whoever chooses to take it.
