Beautiful Vintage Concert Violin, Formely Played By A Professional Violinist:
80-110 years old beautiful Czech or German violin. It is not labelled, BUT it’s a vintage concert level instrument of a superb build, wonderful material, and equally good tone.
- Build: very nice work; scroll and sound holes skilfully carved, purfling precisely inlaid, all the four corners blocked; quality light varnish expertly applied.
- Wood: wonderful spruce top of a dense structure; broadly flamed back, ribs & neck.
- Sound: open, brilliant with attractive overtones rounding the tone, nicely balanced across the strings; excellent projection.
The violin used to be professionally played in ‘Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra’ (Zlín, Moravia) – another indication of its qualities.
The instrument is in anexcellent condition for its age. I cannot see any cracks in it (neither open, nor repaired). The wear & tear is only slight – some minor scratches, blemishes; the instrument is excellently preserved overall. The fittings are in a good shape too; the bridge seems to have been fitted relatively recently.
- length of the back: 359mm
- total length: 592mm

Some notes on packaging: I do the following steps (nearly always) to eliminate the danger of the damage to the instrument during the transport to the minimum: I put the bridge down, then unscrew the screws of the fine tuners and put them, together with the bridge, to the "rosin pocket" of the violin case. Related note: There is always some (not too big) possibility that the sound post inside the violin body would loosen during the transport. If this happens, it’s necessary to go to a luthier and ask him to put the sound post up again. It's a trivial and usually cheap act; the important thing is that the sound post has been expertly fitted in most cases, so there is no need to shorten it (etc.) again. Please understand that I do the described procedure to make the delivery of the instrument to customers as safe as possible (unfortunately there is no option to send the parcels abroad as "fragile"). If you wish me NOT to take those protecting measures for some reason, please let me know in time!
