BILL ROBINSON HAIR DRESSINGtin from probably the late 30s or early 40s. This is such a historical tin, and I'm very sad about the condition. Bill Robinson also known as BOJANGLES, quit school at the age of 7 to become a tap dancer. He died in 1949. This product was probably from the the highlight years of his career. There are so many condition issues (be sure you check the photos) starting with the paint off on the right side of label. Thereis alot of flaking of paint all over. The back of label has a bad rust spot,where at sometime the product leaked and ate through the paint on the right side from top to bottom. There are stains from use all over, but I didn't want to try to clean it because the paint is fragile. There is a signature on the front label, on the lid, and on the back label. The can is a small oval-1 3/4' tall and 2 3/4" across bottom. The price of 10 cents is printed on the top, which is a set-on lid . There is a statement on back of tin about part of the purchase going to his charity----how much could there have been for charity at 10 cents a can.? Bottom of back label reads"Prepared by Burton Brothers Co. Inc., Richmond, Va., New York". Some of the printing on the back has been destroyed by the rust. I hope you can give this tin a good home.
