is the title of the Bing & Grondahl (B&G) 2004 Christmas Plate, the 110th plate in the series – the longest running and most popular series of collector plates ever produced. Father has chosen the family Christmas tree from those growing in the woods, and has his hatchet poised to chop it down, while two small children look on. The family horse is standing in the background, ready to carry home the tree. The Christmas Star (found on almost all B&G Christmas plates) burns brightly in the sky. The scene is embossed on Danish porcelain and handpainted in traditional Copenhagen blue under the glaze. Diameter 7 1/8 inches. Pierced foot for hanging wire. Appropriately marked on the back, including the three tower trademark of Bing & Grondahl. Artwork by Jørgen Nielsen. Issue Price in 2004 was $79.50.
